About me

I was born on 17 July 1963 in Semarang, on the island of Java, Indonesia.

I spent my childhood and youth first in Semarang and later in Jakarta, then the capital city of Indonesia. After completing school, I quickly realized that a conventional career path was not meant for me.

At the age of eighteen, I set out for Yogyakarta with the goal of studying at the Institute of the Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta.

During my studies at the art university, I supported myself as a street artist and through various commissions and projects – a formative experience that continues to shape my artistic approach to this day.
I draw inspiration from everyday life and from nature, particularly the sea and its inhabitants, as well as from Javanese myths, indigenous beliefs, and spirituality.
A special place in my work is occupied by Parangtritis Beach, whose symbolic and thematic presence can be found throughout many of my artworks.

Since 2010, I have lived and worked in Carinthia, Austria.

From here, I continue to develop my artistic practice, exhibiting nationally and internationally while regularly leading workshops for schools, universities, cultural organizations, and private groups.
